Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? This is a question that everyone should know the answer too. There's no doubt that Spongebob Squarepants is iconic as the show is one of the highest rated show on Nick and that it's been on the air for almost 20 years. Many generations are growing up with the show and it's the most quotable show out there. Every episode is memorable, but here are the top 20 episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. Keep in mind that this is my opinion, so my picks may be a bit bias. For this list and to kick off the New Year, I will be ranking these episodes by how quotable, memorable, and hilarity. So know let's get into the list.

Top 20 Episodes of Spongebob Squarepants

20. The Camping Episode

In this episode, Squidward randomly joins Patrick and Spongebob on their camping trip. The Camping Episode is filled with random humor and a song that can compete with the Best Day Ever. The Sea Bear attack scenes are hilarious and one of the episodes that you can watch over and over again and still get a good laugh out of it.

19. Hall Monitor

It's an episode with a simple concept but every joke that they did for the episode actually works, wether it's repetitive or a one liner, it works. This is also one of the most memeable episode as you can screenshots from this episode everywhere

18. Snowball Effect

I like to watch this episode every time Christmas comes around even though it's not a Christmas episode. I watched this episode recently and I was in tears while watching it. I do enjoy vocal humor but the visual humor is where it's at for this episode. From the running joke of the fireplace going out to the slow motion shot of Patrick getting hit with snowballs, no joke ever gets old.

17. Just One Bite

I have always felt that this episode was very random, but I do enjoy it because the episodes that focus more on Squidward seem to be the best episodes and the ones I enjoy the most. I like this episode for the simple fact that it’s very relatable feeling that everyone has gone through. Liking something but telling everyone you don’t.

16. Jellyfish Jam

The only reason why I put this episode on this is because of the two iconic songs that we get from it. Though the episode is pretty random, it stays memorable because of the music.

15. Help Wanted

The first episode of the series deserved its place on this list. The episode is well planned out and storyboards nicely. The storyline, the iconic anchovies and the music of Tiny Tim is what got us hooked and so attached to the show.

14. One Krabs Trash

This episode is pretty random also but i also recommend this one when you’re feeling down. Though it’s meant for laughs I feel like it also shows a good message of how greed is never good.

13. Rock Bottom

This episode is good but if you ever want to get irritated, watch this episode. It’s funny but is also a serious test of patience. It’s also one of the most quotable episodes on this list.

12. Shanghaied

The jokes in this episode are really well thought out to me. I will always laugh at the many times Spongebob and Patrick try to scar the citizens of Bikini Bottom and the gift shop scene. No matter how many times I watch it, it always has me grabbing at my side.

11. Have You Seen This Snail?

When I was younger, I remember getting a bit teary eyed when ‘Gary Come Home’ came on and seeing the scenes of Spongebob desperately looking for Gary. It took a bit of a break from constantly being funny and was actually a very cute and heartwarming episode. I also did enjoy the game that came out when this episode was being promoted.

10. Survival of the Idiots

This episode was very interesting to me with the idea of putting sea creatures in the snow. Survival of the Idiots are one of the episodes that if you ask a Spongebob fan what is one of the funniest episodes, they will 8/10 say this one. This episode is well written. So well written that the “Who you callin’ pinhead?” line still gets a great laugh out of everyone.

9. Procrastination

If you want to know what it’s like for a college student that has to write a meaningless essay, look no further than this episode. This is one the most relatable cartoon episodes I ever seen and you won’t be able to relate to it till you get into high school. The episode really describes every student that would rather be doing something else instead of writing a boring essay. Also the part when the essay got cancelled is also a feeling that is just to real.

8. Club Spongebob

When I watch this episode. I kinda wish that they did more episodes with the magic conch. The episodes humor is built on the frustration and misfortune of Squidward but it works. Just like Survival of the Idiots, the jokes stay fresh. This is also one that is quotable and one of the episodes that get memed the most.

7. Idiot Box

Who would have that and entertaining episode would be about boxes. Idiot Box is entertaining and a very creative episode. I also like how it encourages kids to use their imaginations. I still do wonder how they were able to project sounds like that though...

6. SB-129

I enjoy this episode because of the places in time that were shown. My favorite one in particular is the cavemen era. And remember guys, this caveman Spongbob is not Spongegar.

5. Graveyard Shift

This was a nice episode to release on Halloween. It’s funny, but it also had its moments of scariness to me when I was younger. Especial the part with Nosferatu.

4. Frankendoodle

This episode is cleverly written and very entertaining. Doodlebob is memorable character even though he shows up in the series once. I also enjoy his very flat design and how they animated his movement.

3. Reef Blower

I personally feel like this episode is super underrated and people always forget that it exist. It’s a great episode and is the only episode on this list that is actually a short instead of a full episode. I also like this episode because it’s good even though none of the characters speak.

2. Pizza Delivery

This episode was a simple concept but it actually works well with the Spongebob Universe. I love this episode because it one of the few episodes that actually show a friendship type of relationship between Spongebob and Squidward and I always loved how, even though Squidward claims he doesn’t like Spongebob, he stands up for him in the end.

Honorable Mention:

The Chaperone

Mermaidman and Barnicaleboy V

Chocolate with Nuts

Patty Hype

1. Band Geeks

The number one episode and shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone is Band Geeks. This episode goes down in Spongebob Squarepants history as the best episode and one had yet to change everyone’s opinion. From the beautiful story line to the song Sweet Victory this episode became the most iconic one.
